About Doria Feminist Fund
Doria Feminist Fund (DFF) is a Canadian non-profit fund that provides grants and accompaniment to feminist groups and movements in the MENA region. DFF is seeking an experienced Canadian financial operations partner to manage its day-to-day finances and provide strategic financial advice.
Scope of work
The selected consultant will provide ongoing financial operations services, including:
- Bookkeeping (DFF uses QuickBooks Online): recording and reconciling transactions, the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliations
- Financial management: budget monitoring, monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements, financial planning and budget revisions
- Grant and donor financial management: tracking restricted and unrestricted funding, donor financial reports, compliance with donor agreements, audit documentation
- Financial controls and compliance: Canadian nonprofit financial requirements, supporting documentation, audit preparation
- Payroll and contractor payments
- Financial systems administration, including banking relationships and GICs
- Ongoing advisory support to DFF leadership
Deliverables
- Weekly payment processing on the Convera platform (an average of 10 payments per week)
- Monthly bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial statements
- Quarterly budget-versus-actual and cash flow reports
- Donor financial reports (quarterly or bi-annual, upon request)
- Audit support documentation and quarterly financial review meetings
Duration
The engagement is anticipated to begin November 15, 2026 and continue for 24 months, with the possibility of renewal. A transition period runs from November 15 to December 31, 2026.
Consultant qualifications
- Significant experience providing outsourced financial management services to nonprofits, foundations, or philanthropic funds
- Experience supporting organizations operating internationally, including multi-currency transactions, remote work, multiple time zones, and international wires
- Strong knowledge of Canadian nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience with grant financial management, donor reporting, and audit support
- Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online
- Professional proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset
