Egypt

This group is an Egyptian queer social center working to provide a safer space for queer people to express their opinions and ideas without paternalism or judgment. The group worked directly with groups of people living with HIV/AIDS throughout 2024 and observed that most of those working in this field were LGBTQ+. Therefore, we decided to provide a space for queer women to present their ideas and empower them to start new groups specifically for queer women living with HIV/AIDS. The topics expected to be studied in this program include sexuality and gender-based violence, governance and accountability systems, visual identities and social media presence, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Sudan

Firstly, we will empower two cohorts of female leaders—including politicians, peace advocates, journalists, and women human rights defenders—with essential digital security skills and a deeper understanding of OGBV in the Sudanese context. This will enable them to navigate online spaces safely and effectively counter OGBV. Secondly, we will generate reliable data on OGBV by training participants to track and document cases, fostering a culture of monitoring and accountability. This data will be compiled into a secure database, accessible exclusively by the group, to inform evidence-based responses for future research and advocacy campaigns. Thirdly, we will enhance the capacity of female politicians from various parties to develop and implement zero-tolerance policies for GBV, both online and offline, ensuring accountability within their respective parties.
